Exhibition CES 2018 will begin only in early January, but Samsung is already boasting that he has prepared 36 products for the CES 2018 Innovation Awards. One of them is especially interesting for fans of smartphones – Samsung Exynos 9810. What is known about the system that will become the brain of the Galaxy S9?
The Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which organizes the Consumer Eletronics Show (CES), before each new exhibition awards awards to the best products that visitors can find at exhibitions in Las Vegas. Differences are obtained not only solutions that are already available in the market, but also those that will only be officially presented for a wider range.
Therefore, it should not be surprising that among the 36 products of Samsung (for example, Galaxy S8 / S8 +, Galaxy Note 8, Sport Gear or Gear Fit2 Pro), which were on the CES Innovation Awards, there were also still unknown models. The most interesting, of course, is the Exynos 9810, that is, the new Samsung Exynos 9 Series processor.
What do we know about the top Exynos 9810?
The newest Samsung chip will be officially presented at CES 2018. It will be the brain of the Galaxy S9 flagship models, as well as Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 845 system. Samsung has not yet reported all the details, but something is already known about the new solution.
It is known that Exynos 9810 will not be made in the lithographic process of 8 nm or 7 nm. The Korean giant decided to stay in 10-nanometer technology, but he introduces his second, improved version. I’m also confident that he will receive a LTE modem category 18 (6CA), which, in theory, should provide data transmission at the level of up to 1.2 Gbps.
Samsung also indicated that it uses new author kernels and an improved graphics system. In the first case, you can expect at least four M3 units to be based on the Cortex-A75. Energy-saving cores should be the new Cortexy-A55.
Koreans do not disclose details about the author kernels, but it is known that in the case of the graphics system they rely on ARM Holdings technology. Therefore, the improved GPU can become the Mali-G72 in one of the top configurations.
In the Galaxy S9 can not only get the Exynos 9810.
There is one thing that the Korean giant is still silent about, this is a specialized solution that will be responsible for processing algorithms of artificial intelligence (in particular, machine learning). Huawei already uses a similar solution in the Kirin 970 system. The new SoC is not everything.
At the press conference, Samsung boasted that the prize of CTA also received its new matrix ISOCELL Slim 2X7. It may turn out that this 24-megapixel matrix will also be used in the new flagship.
