The current market for notebook components is divided between Intel (processors) and NVIDA (video cards). But soon it can change with the help of new AMD processes, targeted at the notebook market, which have built-in graphics Vega.
By the end of the year, two more months, but today we can safely say that it was a very successful year for AMD. Mainly due to the Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 series processors, which led to the fact that Intel still paid attention to its biggest competitors. AMD also made a dig at crypto currency and just like NVIDA prepares video cards specifically for this purpose.
In this article we will talk about the new Ryzen processors, which have an integrated graphics core based on Vega architecture. AMD boasts that their new processors have performance at the level of desktop processors, and as for graphics capabilities, they can easily compete with the NVIDIA GTX 950M system.
To begin with, we will get two such products:
- Ryzen 5 2500U – 4 cores / 8 streams, 2 GHz clock speed (Turbo: 3.6 GHz).
- Ryzen 7 2700U – 4 cores / 8 streams, clock speed 2.2 GHz (Turbo: 3.8 GHz).
AMD also boasted that the new Ryzen Mobile processors are not only more powerful than the previous generation processors, but also consume 58% less energy. And this is confirmed by some tests. For example, in Cinebench, the Ryzen 2700U beat Intel i5-7600K, and in the 3DMark – Time Spy test its graphics capabilities turned out to be better than in the GeForce 950M with the Intel Core i7-7500U.
Let’s move on to real tests. Overwatch in low details and a resolution of 1280 x 720 works at 66 fps, DOTA 2 and League of Legends reach 60 frames per second, but at Full HD resolution. Do not forget that we are talking about processors that will fit easily in light and very thin laptops. Well, let’s not forget that the new processors will help increase life on one battery charge. AMD claims that in this regard, they proved to be twice as good as the hybrid processors of the previous generation.
All this sounds very cool, and in the end it is worth noting the observations of one of the experts. At the moment, Intel is driving on the field of processors for laptops, NVIDIA, in turn, produces the best video cards. But AMD is entering the market with a system that will combine a powerful processor with no less productive graphics. Therefore, AMD can really become a leader in the notebook market.
One of the first laptops with the new AMD system will be HP Envy x360 15-bq101na, the successor to Envy x360 15-bp001nw.
