It is possible that Qualcomm will officially launch its new Snapdragon 845 processor this year, but it will definitely happen no later than in early 2018 during the CES. Today we received new information about this system, which will stand in many flagships of 2018. So what can we expect from a new processor?
Snapdragon 845 is manufactured in the 10nm Low Power Early process, but this time by TSMC, not Samsung. We can expect minimal increases in performance and improved energy efficiency, as we are only talking about improving the technology used in Snapdragon 835.
Undoubtedly, the best results are to bring new kernels. This will be the third generation of Kryo cores, we will get four productive cores based on Cortex-A75 and the same number based on Cortex-A53, which should be responsible for the energy-saving operation of the device. The graphics will also receive updates, and the new SoC will work in tandem with the Adreno 630, but so far we know little about it, except that the graphics processor has been optimized for virtual reality.
If we are talking about cameras, then Snapdragon 845 will be able to provide support for dual cameras consisting of lenses with a resolution of 25 megapixels (only 4 cameras). But we do not know if he will get support for recording 4K video at 60 frames / second.
The new model LTE (X20), theoretically, will allow downloading data at speeds up to 1.2 Gbit / s, which is 0.2 Gbit / s faster than X16 in Snapdragon 835.
Producers, apparently, are already lining up for a new Qualcomm processor, and Samsung, as well as last year, bought the entire first batch under the Galaxy S9. Xiaomi also wants to use this processor in Mi 7, and LG can again apply its cunning tactics, this will mean that the first flagship of the company in 2018 will receive Snapdragon 835, and the second – Snapdragon 845.
