The mirrorless ones have long been available on the market, but only recently they have moved to a completely different level, to the top segment.
First, there was a full-frame Sony A9, which is aiming for a group of professional cameras. And now Panasonic is making a similar step by introducing the Lumix G9 model, wanting to prove that mirrorless 4/3 sensors can not be underestimated.
Panasonic Lumix G9 and its sensor.
Panasonic Lumix G9 is a camera for professional photographers who (ATTENTION) are not afraid of a sensor with a resolution of 20 megapixels and a standard 4/3. So decided the company Panasonic. Is such a permit today someone please? Just like the size of the sensor – 4/3 it is much smaller than the full frame. There is no unambiguous answer to these questions. As well as the question – is the ISO range from 100 to 25600 (Panasonic decided not to use the high ISO parameters)?
User Panasonic Lumix G9 will receive not only 20 megapixel photos. If you decide to do static frames, then you can use the technique of hardware enhancement through the micro-shift of the sensor (High Resolution Mode). Thus, we get 80 megapixel photos (size 10368 x 7776 pixels).
We drove a little on the new flagship camera Panasonic, now it’s time to pay attention to those elements that deserve praise. Panasonic Lumix G9 is equipped with a new image processing system Venus Engine 10, which is able to squeeze out of the matrix, even 20 frames per second with constant control of sharpness in the photo. Pictures are recorded on two SD memory cards (both slots in G9 support UHS-II bus).
Stabilization, image preview and video.
Another element of the camera, which Panasonic always paid attention to is image stabilization. The Panasonic Lumix G9 has a built-in 5-axis stabilization mechanism, which achieves up to 6.5 EV efficiency. This is very much, considering that in other cameras 5 EV is considered an excellent result. In addition, the stabilization in the case, can work together with the stabilization of the lens (Dual IS 2 system).
Panasonic did not dwell on these changes. The upgraded system also had an auto focus system, which now uses 225 measurement points using the DFD (depth from defocus) contrast detection method. The image is analyzed 480 times per second, so the DFD can easily compete with the phase detection technique, and even overtake it. The disadvantage is the requirements for the use of Panasonic lenses.
So, let’s go further. The Panasonic Lumix G9 features an OLED viewfinder with an increase of 0.83 x and a resolution of 3.68 million pixels. With such parameters, even professionals should not complain about it. And of course, a folding and swiveling 3-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1.04 million pixels.
Panasonic Lumix G9 will also be able to rent a good movie for you. It takes 4K video with 60 fps and a bitrate of 150 Mbps. As usual, there is a photo-video function that uses a fast sensor reading in 6K (in other words, at a resolution of 18 megapixels). And in FullHD, you can record an image at 180 fps to create a 6 times slower video later.
Use and enclosure.
As well as it is necessary to the chamber for the professional, Panasonic Lumix G9 can work with the additional vertical holder which simultaneously is the container for the spare battery. Thus, the performance of a standard battery will be doubled and will be 800 photos.
Mirror cameras, even professional ones, have one problem. They do not have the best wireless technology (although it does). Meanwhile, the Panasonic Lumix G9 has built-in Wi-Fi 802.11 ac 5 GHz, which is also compatible with 2.4 GHz 802.11 b / g / n, Wi-Fi consumes quite a lot of power, so there’s also Bluetooth 4.2 LE.
And the last thing that testifies to the professionalism of the Panasonic Lumix G9 is the ergonomics of its enclosure. The case is made of magnesium alloy, and it is also sealed. Thus, the camera can cope with moisture, dirt and low temperatures (down to -10 degrees C). The camera has the following dimensions: 137 x 97 x 92 mm, and it weighs 658 grams.
Price and sales:
We just need to quote the price of the Panasonic Lumix G9. It will cost about 1700 euros (the recommended price). Unfortunately, most likely, we will be able to buy it only after the new year.
