OnePlus company officially introduced an improved version of its flagship in 2017. Here’s what you need to know about the OnePlus 5T.
The premiere of OnePlusa 5T should not surprise anyone. We have known for a long time that it will look like the Oppo R11s model, it became known from the manufacturer’s clips. We also knew which elements of the specification will be improved. But the fact that the Chinese novelty has not surprised us, does not mean that it should not be interested. Just the opposite.
A key change is a new screen.
OnePlus joined the Reich of Chinese manufacturers, which in the second half of 2017 showered the smartphone market with screens of the 18: 9 format. 5T is equipped with a 6-inch OLED panel with FullHD + resolution.
This screen is called Optic AMOLED, it was calibrated by the manufacturer, but it also has modes for changing the color temperature and their saturation. There is also a special mode for working on a sunny day, which should increase the visibility of the content on the screen.
The display has a clearly reduced frame (especially the upper and lower), so it occupies 80.5 percent of the entire front. It looks pretty good, but it’s not the level that Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 + or LG V30 phones have, the screens of which come to the sides of the device.
The back of the case does not differ from the one used in OnePlus 5 or Oppo R11 and R11s. The case is made of metal, and the antennas are on the top and bottom edge and fit well with the rest of the case. There is a “Do Not Disturb” button on the left side.
The rear panel also houses a fingerprint scanner, which should not surprise anyone, given the presence of a screen that fills most of the front panel. In the upper left corner there is a slightly protruding module of the double chamber, which has changed quite a lot.
Without a telephoto lens. Special sensor for night photos.
OnePlus 5 has an additional sensor, which is a telephoto lens, this decision was taken from the iPhone 7 Plus. The implementation of this decision of the Chinese company did not receive flattering reviews, so it was decided to change the camera.
OnePlus – as you probably already guessed – decided to use the same module that they used in Oppo R11s. Instead of an additional telephoto lens, in OnePlus 5T you can find two similar lenses that have the same optics:
- Sony IMX398 16 megapixels (1.12 micron pixels) and a 27.22 mm lens with a brightness of f / 1.7;
- Sony IMX376K 20 megapixels (pixels 1 micron) and a lens of 27.22 mm with a brightness of f / 1.7.
The camera with a 16 Mp matrix is designed for shooting in good lighting conditions, but the fact that at 20 Mp was specially optimized for shooting in the worst conditions of illumination. The system will automatically switch to the second lens as soon as it detects that the lighting conditions are weak for the first lens.
This became possible thanks to the use of Inteligent Pixel Technology, which combines four neighboring pixels into one lighter one. This solution is similar to Ultrapiksel, which was promoted by HTC.
The fact that there is no telephoto lens does not mean that there is no hybrid zoom. The 5T also can combine data from both lenses and increase the sharpness of the image by approximating a portion of the frame. Users will also have a portrait mode, which will give the same effects as the DSLR camera. The company has improved the noise reduction system and work in conditions of insufficient lighting.
In addition, the manufacturer added a new feature that makes several images at the same time and automatically chooses the best frame using algorithms. OnePlus also boasted an enhanced blurry background effect, which provided an additional lens.
The rest of the elements remained basically unchanged.
OnePlus 5T, of course, got Snapdragon 835, which works with 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM LPDDR4X. The built-in memory is a bone of the UFS 2.1 type. The battery has a capacity of 3300 mAh, and it can be quickly charged using Dash Charge (4A / 5V) technology. Control over the whole device is carried out by OxygenOS, which is based on Android 7.1.1.
The company also left a standard headphone jack (3.5 mm) and a USB 2.0 port type C. The new model also supports Bluetooth version 5.0, the aptX HD codec and MIMO 2 × 2 technology. The Dirac HD solution, in turn, improves audio capabilities. The ceramic fingerprint scanner, which is located on the back panel, must unlock the phone in just 0.2 seconds.

The price of the new flagship.
In the European market (as well as in the US and India), the novelty of the Chinese company is expected to appear on November 21. The prices for the versions are as follows:
- OnePlus 5T (6 GB / 64 GB) – 499 euros.
- OnePLus 5T (8 GB / 128 GB) – 559 euros.
A large screen with proportions of 18: 9 in a body of almost identical size, the best camera that will take good pictures in low light and the same price as in the case of OnePlus 5? Looks really good. I’m sorry for the people who recently bought the first OnePlus 5.
