Long before the beginning of the MWC 2018, we learned that LG will bring another representative of the V series with it, it will be an updated V30 model. In relation to last year’s model, we expected to see only cosmetic changes, but what changes really were made? A few hours before the presentation of the flagship Samsung, LG released information about its novelty, the LG V30S ThinQ, or rather two new ones, because there is still V30 + ThinQ (differ from each other in the amount of internal memory). Thanks to this, we can now consider new models.
LG V30S ThinQ VS LG V30 – what’s changed?
Contrary to popular belief, there are quite a lot of changes – and interestingly, not only internal, but also external, although this statement is slightly exaggerated, since the manufacturer has changed only colors. A new representative of the Korean family will be available in two new colors, called Moroccan Blue and Platinum Gray. Many customers will also be pleased with the fact that immediately out of the box the device will be running Android 8.0 Oreo (I will only remind that the basic version of the V30 has not received an upgrade to Oreo yet).
The V30S ThinQ also has more RAM, 6 GB vs. 4 GB and more internal memory – 128 GB in V30S and 256 GB in V30S +. Yes, both versions differ from each other only by the amount of memory, so you can already stop looking for other differences between the version with plus and without it.
A little artificial intelligence
A big role in the V30S ThinQ is played by artificial intelligence, which is not found in the conventional V30. Most notably, it will be in the camera application (AI Cam), as well as in Huawei Mate 10 Pro, which first introduced such a novelty into the world of smartphones. The application will automatically detect the scene and select the settings for shooting to make the best shot in these conditions. There are eight categories: portrait, food, animals, city, flowers, sunrise and sunset, as well as a view. In each category, according to LG, the variables are the following parameters: viewing angle, color, light, saturation level.
In addition, the camera has a built-in QR code scanner, which allows you to make purchases based on the recognition of objects on the pictures (Bixby in the flagship Samsung models works on this principle). This function was called QLens. New also is the Bright Mode (it can also be called the night mode), in which advanced algorithms should allow you to take great pictures in the worst lighting conditions. Thanks to artificial intelligence, every fan of photos will be able to make even better pictures without user intervention (the selection of individual image parameters is possible in a professional mode).
And yet, as we already wrote something about, this model received Voice AI, this add-on expands the functionality of Google’s voice assistant, that is, there are new commands that activate a variety of modes and not only.
In the end, important information: LG confirmed that some smartphones will receive AI functions along with the upcoming update – I think that among them there will definitely be a V30 and maybe a G6. When such an update appears, it is not yet known.
The cost of the LG V30 ThinQ is also not known to us.
