LG K10 (2018) and LG K8 (2018)

New Korean state employees: LG K10 (2018) and LG K8 (2018). Should I pay attention to them?

LG is preparing another premiere of its products. In 2017, the company introduced the LG K10 (2017) at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. But in 2018 at CES did not appear any new product of this manufacturer. Why? LG does not count on the popularity of its budget devices in the United States. However, the company will be happy to show them to Europeans at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

On MWC 2018 LG is going to bring two new smartphones, models K10 and K8.

Model LG K10 (2018)

LG K10 (2018)

The manufacturer proudly reports that the K10 (2018) model significantly improved the camera. Thanks to the main camera with a matrix of 13 megapixels, auto focus with phase detection and improved noise reduction, photos should go out even better than before. This is the same mechanism that is used in the LG G6. It is not known only which, because the G6 has a dual camera. Most likely, this is not a wide-angle lens.

In addition, the new K10 has what LG calls the “Smart Rear Key”. In fact, it’s just a fingerprint recognition device with advanced features, such as a built-in power button, a camera shutter button or a quick screen shot. Front of the K10 2018 is a camera with a resolution of 8 megapixels, which supports blur mode background.

The smartphone will appear in different markets in three versions: “ordinary”, “Plus” and “Alpha”. The key difference between them is the amount of memory, but also – interestingly – the cameras used.

Here is a brief specification of the LG K10 (2018):

  • 8-core processor 1.5 GHz;
  • 5.3-inch HD screen (1280 x 720 pixels, 277 ppi);
  • 3 GB of RAM (K10 Plus) or 2 GB of RAM (K10 and K10 Alpha);
  • 32 GB of ROM (K10 Plus) or 16 GB of ROM (K10 and K10 Alpha);
  • slot for microSD memory cards (up to 2 TB);
  • Rear camera: 13 Mp (K10 Plus and K10) or 8 Mp (K10 Alpha);
  • Front camera: 8 megapixel or 5 megapixel (wide-angle only in K10 Plus and K10);
  • Battery 3000 mAh;
  • Android 7.1.2 Nougat
  • LTE communication;
  • Wi-Fi (802.11 b, g, n);
  • Bluetooth 4.2;
  • NFC;
  • USB 2.0;
  • Fingerprint’s scanner;
  • FM radio;
  • Dimensions: 148.7 x 75.3 x 8.68 mm;
  • weight: 162 g;
  • colors: blue / gold (K10 Plus), black / blue / gold (K10), black / gold (K10 Alpha).

It can not be said that these LG smartphones will be a hit at MWC. The K10, even in the most powerful version of Plus, is not very attractive. If this is what LG looks like in the middle class, it means that Koreans have taken too low a level, they almost border on budget smartphones. In 2018, the HD screen, 1.5 GHz processor and 16 GB of internal memory – this is too weak for the middle class.

Model LG K8 (2018)

LG K8 (2018)

K8 (2018) appears as a typical representative of the low price shelf. Its specification is complemented by features that have a more powerful model: shooting three shots in a row and merging them into GIF, blinking the LED while counting the camera’s timer, releasing the shutter gesture and highlighting the selfie with a white screen.

LG K8 (2018) and its specifications:
  • four 1.3 GHz core processor;
  • 5 inches HD screen (1280 x 720 pixels, 294 ppi);
  • 2 GB of RAM;
  • 16 GB of ROM;
  • slot for microSD memory cards (up to 32 GB);
  • main camera: 8 megapixel;
  • front camera: 5 megapixel;
  • Battery 2500 mAh (removable);
  • Android 7.1.2 Nougat
  • LTE communication;
  • Wi-Fi (802.11 b, g, n);
  • Bluetooth 4.2;
  • USB 2.0;
  • Dimensions: 146.3 x 73.2 x 8.2 mm;
  • weight: 152 g;
  • colors: black, blue, gold.

At the exhibition Mobile World Congress LG’s booth will be of interest, most likely, not because of middle-class smartphones. There is a lot of rumors about the new version of LG K30. I hope that this model will surprise us more than the above-mentioned smartphones, because they are not very attractive.
