What sweet treats will appear on Android 9? Now little is known about the next version of Google’s mobile operating system, but we know that Google has already started working on Android P (Android 9.0), and we will add new information to this article when we learn something new.
We also added a list of things that we want to see in the new Android. The Oreo version showed itself well, but there is always room for improvement.
- What will it be? The next version of Android.
- When will it appear? Most likely in August 2018.
- How much will it cost? It will be a free update.
Release date Android 9.
Most likely, Google, as usual, will present a new version of the system, that is, Android 9, in March 2018, but this will be a preview, you will not be able to upgrade your system. This is a beta version, and the final version will appear in August 2018.
It’s possible that the schedule will be slightly different, but it will be about the same as new updates are released annually, and Android Oreo was launched in August 2017.
News and rumors about Android P.
We do not know much about Android P (it’s called Android 9), but it seems that it is already being developed, because XDA Developers has found links to it in the Android Open Source Project.
We will update this section as soon as we hear new information about Android P.
What we want to see.
Android 8 is a very good operating system, but the technology does not stand still and there is always something to improve. We also have several wishes.
1. Faster and broader availability.
Android has problems with availability, and many devices get stuck on older versions. And even if your phone is in the list of devices that will receive an update, it may take several months until you really get it.
I hope that Android 9 will be able to get more devices, and much faster than usual. Of course, much depends on the manufacturers of smartphones, but Google can try to solve this problem, because this is his system.
We’re talking about this, because we know that Google is working on a feature that will update the device without the intervention of its manufacturer.
Will they let this function in the new system, we do not know yet, but I hope so.
2. Mobile search bar and date widgets.
In the new version of the system, we want to be able to move the search bar and date widget. Currently they are glued to the bottom and top of the main screen. I think that many would like this function.
We generally want Android 9 to be more flexible, so that users have more freedom and could customize the system to their own requirements.
3. Pixel Launcher is available on all devices.
If you do not own a Pixel phone, you probably did not hear about the Pixel Launcher application. This is a very useful Google application that opens up many new features for you.
Pixel Launcher is actually available on Google Play, but only for Google’s devices so I’m hoping that Android 9 will make it available to other users.
4. All functions for all devices.
Even after you get a new version of Android on your device, you do not get all the features right away.
For example, Google Assistant may not be available to you, even if you have an Android Nougat, and Google Lens is not included in the main Android Oreo update.
We want Android 9 to have all the features available, for all devices on which this software is running.
5. Picture in picture for each application.
Picture-in-picture is one of the newest features of Android Oreo, but in fact it is rather limited, many applications do not support it. But this can be fixed in the new version of Android.
6. Focus on the tablets.
Android works fine on phones, and it’s clear that in recent years almost nothing has been paid to tablets, it’s getting more and more noticeable. Apple launched iOS 11, targeted at the tablet. Google could learn from its competitor, the tablet market has not yet died, but if they do not have a decent system, they will not last for long.
